Edmonton Economic Development Corporation: Unparalleled Fun and Finds at West Edmonton Mall

(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/30/12 -- Whether you like to get your heart racing or just a relaxing visit with family, is the place to be. It's far from your average shopping mall. And this summer its activities and attractions are hotter than ever.
"Every time you go in the World Waterpark you experience something different," says Sheri Clegg, Manager, Media and Public Relations for . The Waterpark boasts the largest indoor wave pool in the world, the tallest indoor permanent bungee tower (yes, that's right), and more than seventeen unique water slides and play features. And that's just for starters.
Thrill-riders will want to try the two new side-by-side Skyscreamer Extreme slides and race their way down beside a friend. These slides are built for speed with an electronic launch system that carries sliders forward at almost 60 kilometres per hour with two G's of gravity.
Adventure seekers can defy gravity and scream their way through the big purple Cyclone's aqua-loop slide, the first aqua-loop waterslide in North America to be installed indoors. It's a thrill for the senses as the floor releases and sliders plummet seventeen metres straight down before arching into a near vertical aqua-loop. "Those who've tried it say it's pretty incredible," says Clegg.
For a bit of milder fun, the Caribbean Cove is another great attraction for families. There are spray features and a climbing area that's fun for all ages. "It will definitely keep the kids entertained," says Clegg.
Watch the fun while the kids hit the rides at , the world's largest indoor amusement park. From the kiddy train to the ferris wheel, to bumper cars, arcade games, cotton candy, candy apples and much more - visitors are sure to be entertained. "It's a fun place to be - all the music, sights, sounds," says Clegg. "And don't miss the TurboRide Theatre, a 3D theatre experience. People should really check it out."
Not to be missed is the unique attraction, a three level rope climbing structure, with the lowest level at ten feet and the highest rising to 30 feet. While harnessed in, your challenge is to walk through a course of beams and ropes to see if you can make it to the top of this uniquely fun obstacle course. Experience 33 varying elements of difficulty including walking across a tightrope or balancing on a board, as well as going through the course blindfolded or backwards. "It's great for team building," says Clegg. "There's no danger because you're fastened in."
Kids and adults alike will love the , where they can ride bumper boats and have water gun wars. And Ed's Rec Room is another great place for families. Go bowling, play arcade games, billiards, and have a pizza - all at a reasonable price. Of course another favourite experience for young and old is Putt 'n' Glow, a mini-putt golf game. Those who don't want glow in the dark golf will also enjoy Professor WEM's Adventure Golf.
To save money and get great deals, families or individuals can purchase Multi-Play Passes. "There are savings to be had," notes Clegg, since a family of up to four can purchase a $299 five day pass and enjoy all of West Edmonton Mall attractions any time they want and as much as they want.
Another popular activity at is, of course, the . "We have the best selection of retailers in Edmonton, and the sales around here are great right now," adds Clegg.
West Edmonton Mall is cutting the ribbon on some news stores and one to note is Simons, a truly unique fashion retailer combining digital age technology with opulent architecture - as well as great clothes and decor for the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. The store's denim area features a gaming wall for shoppers to play on, and there are two mini digital photo studios in store. Shoppers can take photos of fashion ensembles they're trying on and then distribute the pictures immediately to social media for instant feedback. Opening in mid-September, this will be the first Simons to open outside of Quebec, where it's been based for 170 years. The 115,000 square foot store will be located in the northwest corner of the second level on Europa Boulevard.
Also look for brand new eateries including Pinkberry, a popular American frozen yogurt extravaganza. "It's the rage in frozen yogurt," says Clegg. "A lot of actors and actresses have been spotted with it - and it's delicious."
