InFocus Offers Mondopad, Its Classroom Collaboration Technology, to Portland Area School Districts at a Deep Discount

(firmenpresse) - PORTLAND, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 09/04/12 -- , a global leader in digital display devices and visual collaboration technology based in Portland, Ore., has partnered with the City of Portland to offer Portland area school districts access to new technology at a . The InFocus , an award-winning 55-inch touch screen computer that provides an interactive and immersive classroom experience, will be offered to K-12 schools at a $2,000 discount.

"The City of Portland is pleased to join with a local company like InFocus to make cutting-edge technology more accessible to our schools," said Portland Mayor Sam Adams. "Technology tools help students achieve, grow, and learn the 21st century skills necessary to compete in a global, wired world."

The InFocus Mondopad is a 55-inch multi-touch HD LCD display that offers video conferencing, digital annotation, interactive whiteboard and Web browser as well as inputs for devices like a DVD player and document camera.

"Technology in the classroom is important to prepare students to meet the challenges of a highly competitive and technology-driven workplace," said Raymond Yu, president of InFocus. "The Mondopad inspires collaboration and ignites students' imaginations while honing the skills and abilities important to success later in life."

Mondopad serves as a virtual window to the world, fostering a more interactive and immersive classroom experience and enabling educators to quickly access and share information with their audience. Touch-screen technology allows students and teachers to manipulate content and lessons together, from reviewing and annotating documents to illustrating and practicing concepts. Additionally, the built-in video conferencing allows teachers to bring in experts from around the globe for engaging guest lectures and conversations that would otherwise never have been possible.

Mondopad's Windows-based platform makes it flexible enough to work with schools' existing hardware and educational software, but can also work as a standalone device utilizing its own applications, including the entire suite of Microsoft Office. Furthermore, an intuitive interface allows instructors to adopt the technology quickly without spending significant time or resources on training.

Earlier this year, the Mondopad was named "Cool Product of the Year" at the 2012 Oregon TechAwards, hosted by TechAmerica Oregon, a regional division of the technology industry's leading trade association.

Typically priced at $6,000, InFocus has reduced the price of the Mondopad to $4,000 exclusively for Portland area school districts. The discount also applies to any public or private entity purchasing a Mondopad as a charitable donation for any K-12 school or classroom within the district.

Any community group, business or individual interested in purchasing a Mondopad for a local school may contact one of two local reseller partners: Delta AV or Projectus. These authorized Mondopad resellers will also provide installation, training, extended warranties and any other required services. Delta AV can be reached at (503) 907-0137 or visit . Projectus can be reached at (503) 598-8968 or visit . To learn more, visit .
