Greek DTT Network Operator Digea Deploys Agama TV Head-End Monitoring Solution
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
(LINKÖPING, September 5, 2012) - Agama Technologies (IBC:4.A55), the video
service quality assurance expert, today announces to have been selected by Digea
(Digital Provider S.A.) to provide a powerful head-end monitoring solution for
its digital terrestrial transmissions of private channels all over Greece. The
business is conducted in a partnership with regional systems integrator
Cybertec.
Digea, a consortium founded in 2009 by seven of the key private broadcasters in
Greece, operates a nationwide DTT network transmitting both national and
regional private channels. It currently supports two nationwide DVB-T SFN
multiplexes and three local SFN multiplexes for the Attika region. To assure the
service quality of its head-end streams from the transport to the content
layers, Digea has selected an advanced monitoring solution from Agama. The
deployment is being executed under the lead of Cybertec, a systems integrator
with 25 years of presence in the local market.
"We have successfully tested Agama's quality assurance solution since 2010,"
says Chris Kantarelis, CTO at Digea. "The solution fits with our strategic
commitment for top quality service, and we have now decided to implement it
following the analogue transmissions switch-off of the main transmission site of
the Attika region."
This is the first step of a rollout plan, shaping the cornerstone of a future
full end-to-end service quality assurance system that will secure high level of
service for partners and consumers alike. Digea selected the Agama solution
based on its flexible and modular structure, and its ability to provide detailed
technical information that allows for rapid problem discovery and structured
impact and root cause analysis. This whilst a filtered set of top-level
information satisfies management and SLA compliance needs.
"It's been a pleasure to provide our proven and powerful solution for head-end
service quality monitoring to Digea, adding to our growing list of modern DTT
network operator customers," says Mikael Dahlgren, CEO at Agama Technologies.
"Monitoring the service creation is fundamental, as the head-end's performance
ultimately affects each and every customer. With continuous and in-depth real-
time monitoring of its services, detecting everything from transport stream
problems to encoding and service configuration issues, Digea can ensure what
enters and leaves its head-end really is the best it can be."
Agama's comprehensive video quality assurance product line can be tailored for
the TV operator challenges in any head-end environment, with best-of-breed
support for interface flexibility, advanced in-depth monitoring and analysis,
scalability, and top-level presentations. Agama offers massive and cost-
efficient solutions for operational transparency and strategic insight into
video service QoE and QoS for the head-end, adopted by a wide range of TV
operators worldwide.
Visitors to Agama's stand 4.A55 at IBC2012 in Amsterdam, September 7-11, can
experience live demonstrations of the complete Agama DTV Monitoring Solution for
true end-to-end video service quality assurance for TV operators, including
monitoring set-ups for multiplatform and multiscreen environments.
