(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 09/05/12 -- Computer Explorers, a technology based turn-key educational program, has a new Director of Curriculum and Program Development, Elizabeth Marion. This fall the company's curriculum responsibility will be passed to the hands of Ms. Marion of New Orleans, La.

Marion enhances the team at Computer Explorers with a Master's in Secondary Education and a concentration in Educational Technology. She has worked as a Technology Integration Specialist and an Academic Counselor and Teacher Education Coordinator for the University of Phoenix. Marion is currently taking classes toward a doctorate in educational leadership at Prairie View A & M University, where she is studying organizational theory, curriculum design and other topics to increase skills and help her adapt effectively to changing needs in technology and education.

A challenge for any person working with technology is keeping up with the infinite changes and updates. The trend is evolving to learning on apps in addition to the web 2.0 tools and software that were the leading choice in education. Marion expressed the desire to help teachers leap ahead and enjoy the opportunities that technology brings. Marion and her team will also be emphasizing benchmark tests within the curriculum to demonstrate students' progress.

Marion's passion for a love of learning and a love for helping kids reach their potential is obvious. "I am excited to build on the strong curriculum that Cyndee Perkins and the team has put into place over the past few years," states Marion. The Director of Curriculum and Program Development at Computer Explorers decides what the educational focus should be for the Pre-K, Afterschool, Technology class, and Professional Development programs. Once goals are evaluated, the director then leads a team of ten curriculum writers to obtain the optimal educational plan for students. Each curriculum writer is specialized in a specific area.

The team at Computer Explorers will continue to electrify educational experiences as one great leader steps down and another becomes her successor. Marion is pleased with much of the curriculum in place and said, "I can see growth in problem solving skills and social skills while working with others within the STEM-based programs and robotics courses. In regards to technology in education, we will remain poised to take advantage of every opportunity to enhance curriculum and inspire learning!"
