Vancouver Career College's First Annual Bras for a Cause Fundraiser Kicks Off; Money Raised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month Approaches
(firmenpresse) - SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/06/12 -- Staff and students at Vancouver Career College are spending the month of September collecting bras for a cause - breast cancer awareness to be exact. Campuses across BC are asking the public to drop off a new or used bra, along with a cash donation for breast cancer research.
The bras themselves will be collected until the end of the month, at which point they will be strung and hung in Surrey for everyone to see. It is hoped the effort will inspire more people throughout the province to get involved in this important cause.
"Efforts like this one not only serve to help charity, they're also a great example to our students of how to get involved with your community and make a difference in the lives of others," said Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for Vancouver Career College.
When the bras are finally brought down, they will be sorted, washed and donated to the Surrey Women's Centre.
In addition to the Bras for a Cause event, will also enter a team in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's Run for the Cure. The run takes place across the country on September 30th and funds raised are used for prevention, earlier detection, diagnosis, treatment and care. Last year's run raised $30 million.
Bras and cash donations are being accepted at Vancouver Career College campuses in Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, Abbotsford and Kelowna, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm throughout September.
