NEW YORK, NY -- September 6, 2012 -- Atlantic recording artist Christina Perri has announced details of her upcoming holiday EP. "A VERY MERRY PERRI CHRISTMAS" arrives everywhere on October 16th.
"A VERY MERRY PERRI CHRISTMAS" pairs an all-new seasonal staple, "Something About December," alongside unique renditions of such Yuletide favorites as The Carpenters' "Merry Christmas Darling" and Charles Brown's "Please Come Home For Christmas." Produced by multiple Grammy Award winner David Hodges (Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson), the 6-track collection is further highlighted by a magical new take on the John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band classic, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," featuring choral contributions from such diverse artists as Michelle Branch, LP, Bushwalla, and Boys Like Girls' Martin Johnson (see tracklisting below). "I've wanted to make 'A VERY MERRY PERRI CHRISTMAS' my whole life," says Perri. "Christmas is so big in my family, and I've been singing these songs since I was three years old. This EP is a collection of my all-time favorite Christmas songs, plus one original, 'Something About December' which my brother and I wrote about finding Christmas wherever you are in the world, because it lives in your heart."
Perri is currently traveling North America as special guest on her good friend (and Atlantic labelmate) Jason Mraz's epic "TOUR IS A FOUR LETTER WORD." The dates -- which include an eagerly awaited two-night-stand at Denver's world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater and Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl -- continues through early October (see itinerary below).
The tour follows Perri's recent collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter on the acclaimed hit single, "Distance (Feat. Jason Mraz)." The duo has teamed up for a number of performances of the song, including a recent rendition on NBC's TODAY Show Summer Concert series which aired August 31st and this very special acoustic performance filmed backstage at Dallas' Gexa Energy Pavilion which is streaming exclusively via Glamour.com (). In addition, the official "Distance" companion video -- directed by Elliot Sellers (Jason Mraz, Good Old War, Knife Party) -- has already drawn more than 1.5 million individual views at Perri's official YouTube channel, located at .
Named as iTunes' "Breakthrough Pop Artist of 2011," Christina Perri attracted immediate popular and critical applause with her extraordinary debut album, "lovestrong." Highlighted by the 3x-platinum certified smash, "Jar of Hearts," the Joe Chiccarelli-produced album entered the SoundScan/Billboard 200 among the top 5 upon its release last year.
