BlackRock Announces Holdings in Newcrest Mining Ltd.

(NYSE: BLK) today announced that on September 3, 2012, it, on behalf of various investment funds and managed accounts which BlackRock advises, acquired 17,723 common shares (the "Common Shares") in the capital of Newcrest Mining Ltd. ("Newcrest") at a price of $25.27 per Common Share. After giving effect to the transaction, BlackRock has control or direction over a total of 86,517,607 Common Shares of Newcrest, representing approximately 11.31% of the outstanding Common Shares of Newcrest. The Common Shares were acquired in the ordinary course of business, for investment purposes only and not for the purpose of exercising control or direction over Newcrest.
