Edmonton Economic Development Corporation: Economic Development Board Gets Youthful Injection

Interns will be voice of youth, attend meetings, handle projects


(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/13/12 -- 's (EEDC) welcome new voices to their decision-making with the addition of two next-generation youth interns.

Starting today, Christel Hyshka and Brad Williams will volunteer for a one-year term alongside EEDC's board. The EEDC board internship program's goals are to broaden the skills of tomorrow's leaders, enable networking with today's leaders, and make Edmonton a strong and vibrant community. Interns will attend EEDC board and committee meetings.

"Christel and Brad will inject a youthful perspective into our board's deliberations and outlook," says Peter Silverstone, EEDC chair. "We are excited about this initiative."

Hyshka, a University of Alberta and Carleton University graduate, will also join , a group of young leaders that gives a voice to the next generation in the life and growth of our community. She will be an EEDC-NextGen liaison, keeping both sides up-to-date on activities that affect NextGen.

Williams joins the program as a representative of Wicihitowin, a community-based Aboriginal advocacy group. He is a Northern Alberta Institute of Technology graduate, the recipient of two business diplomas. Similarly, Williams will be a link between EEDC and Wicihitowin.
