SGS Announces Grand Opening of New Battery Test House in Munich, 25 October 2012

SGS is pleased to announce the October 25, 2012 opening of its new Battery Test House located in Munich, Germany. The new premises will offer a complete suite of facilities and services for safety and functional tests in the field of electro-mobility. All interested parties are cordially invited to celebrate the grand opening with SGS. Registration is required.

(firmenpresse) - On October 25, 2012, the SGS Group Germany will officially open its new Battery Test House in Munich. This marks the fully functional operation of the e-mobility test center for the world’s leading testing and certification company SGS. Over ten million euros were invested into the new Battery Test House to create one of Europe’s most cutting-edge facilities for highly skilled safety and functional tests in the field of electro-mobility. In addition to the testing of high-performance batteries, the laboratory also assists automobile manufacturers and suppliers in the areas of functional safety, homologation, electromagnetic compatibility and environmental simulation.

The grand opening celebrations will be accompanied by a technical symposium involving renowned experts from the world of politics, economics and research. The keynote speakers will be Markus Blume, Chairman of the CSU Economic Commission, Dr. Gregor Matthies, partner at Bain & Company, Prof. Dr. Gernot Spiegelberg, Head of E-Mobility at Siemens Corporate Technology, and Dr. Peter Lamp, Head of Battery Technology at BMW AG.

In addition, registered visitors will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the entire SGS e-mobility test center, where experts from the Battery Test House (http://www.sgs.com/batterytesting), the EMC/safety lab, as well as from the departments Environment Simulation and Functional Safety Vehicle Homologation will provide a detailed insight into their work.
