KTG Energie continues profitable growth

- H1 2012: EBIT +45% and sales revenues +51%
- 30.6 MW connected to the grid (+8.2 MW in 2012) and 9 MW under
construction
- Disproportionate sales and earnings growth in second half
- New capacity target raised to over 35 MW in 2012 and over 60 MW by 2015

Hamburg, 17 September 2012 - KTG Energie AG, Germany's third largest
producer of renewable energy from biogas, continued its profitable growth
in the first half of 2012. As of 30 June 2012, biogas plants with a total
electrical output of 30.6 megawatts (MW) were connected to the grid, which
means that the company increased its capacity by 8.2 MW within only six
months. Moreover, plants with a capacity of roughly 9 MW were under
construction at the end of June, with further plants at the planning stage.
'We were again able to increase both sales and earnings on the one hand and
to expand our capacity as the basis for reliable future income on the other
hand,' says Dr. Thomas Berger, CEO of KTG Energie.

Sales revenues of KTG Energie increased by 50.6 percent from EUR 8.9
million in the prior year period to EUR 13.4 million in the first six
months of 2012. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and
amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 44.8 percent from EUR 2.7 million to EUR 3.9
million, while earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by 45.1
percent from EUR 1.8 million to EUR 2.6 million. The result from ordinary
activities surged by an impressive 145.8 percent to EUR 1.5 million. With a
view to accelerating its growth, KTG Energie went public in June, the first
company to do so in 2012. Due to extraordinary expenses of EUR 1.3 million,

net income for the first half year amounted to EUR 0.1 million (previous
year: EUR 0.3 million). 'In the second half of the year, the plants we
connected to the grid will enable us to increase both sales and earnings at
a higher rate than in the first six months,' says an optimistic Olaf
Schwarz, CFO of KTG Energie.

Target: 60 MW by 2015; more intercrops and potential takeovers

'The IPO has strengthened our financial foundation even further, which will
allow us to expand our production capacity more quickly than originally
planned,' says Dr. Thomas Berger. Instead of the previous target of roughly
50 MW on line by the year 2015, the company now plans to have passed the 60
MW mark by then, with 35 MW targeted for year-end 2012.

Apart from expanding its production capacity, KTG Energie intends to
increase the use of intercrops for the production of clean energy from
biogas. Millet and Sudan grass are particularly well suited as intercrops.
This biomass already covers over 60 percent of the company's total
requirements, and rising. Thanks to many years of research, KTG Energie was
able to exclusively operate three biogas plants with intercrops and waste
products in the first half of 2012. 'This opens up new earnings potential
also for our partners in the agricultural sector. They can first cultivate
grain for the production of food. After the summer harvest, intercrops are
sown and harvested just before the first frost and then delivered to us,'
explains Dr. Thomas Berger. The result is healthy food and clean energy
from the same field.

This successful model can also be transferred to existing biogas plants of
other operators. KTG Energie considers expanding its capacity not only
through organic growth but also through takeovers.
