2008 Best Year In The History Of German Consulting Firm Mandat

For German consulting firm Mandat Managementberatung GmbH of Dortmund, 2008 was the best financial year ever in its nearly 20 years of business as can be seen from the recently completed financial statements.
“In addition to seven percent growth in revenue, we recorded a rise in earnings before taxes of more than twenty percent year-on-year,” says Dr. Guido Quelle, President of Mandat. According to Dr. Quelle, profitable growth is a must for his consulting company, which after all promises its clients no less than to help them create growth.
However, Dr. Quelle continues, growth must not be reduced to economic aspects alone. “What is needed is an environment which produces innovation and creates added value for the client,” says Quelle, who together with his managing director Holger Kampshoff makes sure that Mandat remains focused on innovation and internationalization. Quelle points out that this is how the diversity of the services offered by the consulting company was significantly increased and the client base was extended.
“Today, our clients have the possibility to achieve the intended results in many different ways with our help,” emphasizes Dr. Quelle. While Mandat consultants previously nearly exclusively dealt with classic project work, there were now more and more requests for coaching of senior managers and entrepreneurs in growth issues, says Quelle. Also, the consulting firm was often asked for help with concrete innovation projects. According to Quelle, the increasing international experience of Mandat – in as many as nine countries – plays an important part.
The outlook for 2009 is positive: “On the one hand, our equity ratio is up to 38 percent; on the other hand, senior executives always need bright and bold people around them who are able to support them in their effort to design the future.” This was true in particular in times such as these. The secret was to concentrate on the results to be achieved for the benefit of the clients, says Dr. Quelle.
