Centrify Equips Civilian and Defense Agencies to Meet Federal Regulatory Requirements Including HSPD-12 Mandate for Both Mac and Linux Systems

(firmenpresse) - SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/25/12 -- Centrify Corporation, the leading provider of that centrally control, secure and audit access to cross-platform systems, mobile devices and applications, today announced availability of its Centrify Suite 2012 with smart card authentication for Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®. This new smart card support for Red Hat, coupled with Centrify's existing and new Mac OS X smart card support also announced today (see accompanying press release ""), extends Centrify's authentication and access management capabilities to the broadest range of desktops and smart cards in use within government and enterprise organizations.

The new offering from Centrify will help federal organizations meet HSPD-12 for Mac and Linux systems. HSPD-12 calls for a mandatory, government-wide standard for secure and reliable forms of identification issued by the federal government to its employees and to federal contractors' employees. HSPD-12 extends standards to authentication of those employees to secure computing systems.

Centrify's new smart card-based, two-factor authentication coupled with its certified encryption on Mac OS X and Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® allows customers to deliver a secure desktop environment for federal and corporate workers. By integrating Active Directory credentials with smart card authentication and utilizing Group Policy for centralized configuration and management, customers are able to quickly enable end user systems for secure access. Smart card authentication support is provided for all Common Access Card (CAC), CAC Next Generation (CAC NG) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) smart cards in use today.

"Given the heterogeneous IT environments that exist in federal organizations today, it is challenging to secure user access for a growing number of mobile devices, server systems, and desktop operating systems to meet federal mandates," said Frank Cabri, Centrify vice president of Marketing. "Most government organizations have standardized on Active Directory, and the capability to manage smart card policies associated with authentication and user access centrally using their existing infrastructure and staff helps them achieve HSPD-12 quickly and easily."
