Seton Canada teams up with Second City veterans for Eye Safety video

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/25/12 -- Note to Editors: There is one photo and video associated with this press release.

200 Canadian workers suffering job related eye injuries a day is no laughing matter but a video meant to drill job safety into the consciousness of young workers and their managers is. The 3 minute YouTube video called Don't Lose Sight of Safety is produced by Seton Canada and features comedians David Huband (Rick Mercer Report) and Adam Cawley (Second City) and is directed by Second City's Chris Earle.

There are two versions of the same video, one with taglines that reinforce and the other with . The videos have launched in time for Eye Health Month (October) and are part of Seton Canada's newly launched . The website gives safety managers, project managers, CEO's and others in charge of occupational safety the safety tips, news and interviews that will help them keep others safer, especially young workers who are particularly vulnerable.

Why is a company known for safety signs, labels, personal protective equipment (PPE) and first aid kits making funny videos and an informational website? "Our customers told us they sometimes struggle getting the job safety message out, particularly to young workers and their managers," said Rebecca Gounaris, Strategic Marketing Manager for Seton Canada. "PPE, signs and labels can't protect anyone if they're sitting in a box. We want to help those in charge of keeping others safe reach them in new creative ways."

The videos are the first in a series that Seton Canada will launch; the jobsafety.seton.ca website will feature advice and news from industry leaders and Linda Kash, a team building workshop leader best known as the Philadelphia Cream Cheese Angel, will also contribute. Kash was a surprise addition to the popular Seton Canada sponsored CSSE Conference session "Taking the Boring out of Safety Training."

"Seton Canada is doing an excellent job of getting the safety message out through its new website and wonderful video," said safety consultant Alan Quilley, author of several acclaimed books about safety on the job. "Job safety is a serious subject but that doesn't mean we can't communicate the message with a smile on our faces. Bravo! I look forward to further additions to the series!"

For 26 years, Seton Canada has been helping responsible employers keep their workers safe with signs (both custom and stock), labels, PPE, and first aid kits. The company ships Canada wide, often the same day, and provides expert assistance in navigating the complex, time-consuming-but-all-important task of job safety. Seton Canada is a proud partner to thousands of companies striving for a culture where zero accidents and 100% compliance are the norm, and offers compliance solutions that reduce lost-time accidents, raise productivity and improve insurance rates out on the floor, in the field, and from behind the desk.
