Roomeon Collaborates With HPI Potsdam to Develop Groundbreaking 3D Apps for Mobile Devices
(firmenpresse) - POTSDAM, GERMANY -- (Marketwire) -- 09/26/12 -- Roomeon is the new startup for 3D interior design software, totally dedicated to the intuitive design and visualization of rooms. What makes it so special: furniture of well-known brands can be placed just by drag and drop to the photorealistic 3D view. Arranging your interiors has never been easier! When it comes to the quality of the real-time 3D rendering, roomeon is already setting the benchmark. Now the cooperation with the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) is targeting the research and development of mobile apps and 3D technology.
The roomeon desktop software, which can be downloaded at for free, will be complemented with specialized apps for smartphone and tablets.
"Our vision will be the inspection of your new, yet empty home, which will be furnished on your smartphone with your favorite interiors as if by magic," gushes Sebastian Heinzel, managing director of roomeon. "Most of the apps on the market are just too complicated. We think that for example new special AR glasses will enable us to offer a completely different user experience -- a 3D visualization that can be explored by actually walking."
This so-called augmented reality (AR) approach, that is, to enrich the reality by virtual data, will be one of the technical fields in which HPI and roomeon are cooperating. The research group for Computer Graphics Systems at the Institute is specialized on real-time rendering of complex, virtual 3D worlds and already developed prototypes to visualize whole 3D city models on simple mobile devices. As smartphones are usually too slow to do sophisticated 3D rendering, the high end rendering service is running on a webserver and will stream, without any friction, top notch views to the smartphone.
Roomeon intends to present an initial mobile app later this year that will enable people to explore the numerous room designs of the roomeon community. The over 50,000 roomeon users to date will thus soon be able to discuss their design ideas and discover new pieces of furniture in arranged settings while on the go.
