Basho Opens Tokyo Office to Support Growing Adoption of Riak(TM) Throughout Japan and Asia Pacific

(firmenpresse) - CAMBRIDGE, MA and TOKYO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/27/12 -- , the worldwide leader in distributed database and cloud storage software, announced today the inauguration of its Japanese business operations, , and the opening of its Tokyo Office.

The commencement of Basho Japan follows the strategic business partnership formed between Basho and Yahoo! JAPAN and its subsidiary, IDC Frontier on July 17, 2012. The partnership, which includes by IDC Frontier, is geared to accelerating Basho's expansion into the Japanese market. Both Yahoo! JAPAN and IDC Frontier also committed to deploy Basho's technology in their platforms. Under the partnership, Yahoo! JAPAN will use Riak, Basho's NoSQL distributed database, within its various service offerings and IDC Frontier will use Riak CS, Basho's Cloud Storage product, throughout its large footprint of data centers. IDC Frontier plans to offer a new service using Riak EnterpriseDS, which comes with advanced features, services and support.

At a private seminar hosted by IDC Frontier earlier today in Tokyo, Basho's CEO Don Rippert, commented: "The opening of Basho Tokyo reflects our confidence that businesses throughout Japan will increasingly seek to build applications that require next generation NoSQL database and cloud storage technology to meet growing customer expectations for Web, mobile, social and cloud performance. We built Riak from the ground up to support distributed, elastic, cloud architectures, including an advanced built-in multi-data center replication capability. As evidenced by our strategic partnership with Yahoo! JAPAN and IDC Frontier, which represent two of the leading search and data center providers in Japan, Riak is an important foundational component for the next generation of infrastructure."

Basho Japan's Tokyo Office is located at NK7 Building 3rd Floor 2-9. Yotsuya Shinjuku-ku and is headed by Mr. Sam Takagi. Prior to joining Basho, Mr. Takagi served as Sales Director for Joyent and General Manager Japan for On2 Technologies, acquired by Google.





Basho's expansion into Japan follows the recent launch of its European operation and the company's .
