Royalty to Attend Canadian Charity Gala
Their Royal Highnesses, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, are to be the guests of honour at: The Joy of Thanksgiving Charity Gala Event The Granite Club, Toronto Saturday October 13, 2012, 6:30 p.m.
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/09/12 -- This prestigious, gala event is a fundraiser for cancer care in Serbia organized by Lifeline Humanitarian Organization Canada, a registered charity founded in 1993 by Crown Princess Katherine with branches in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Greece. Lifeline has been instrumental in the development and modernization of healthcare in Serbia over the past 12 years.
Their Royal Highnesses' two day tour will also include a meeting with Ontario based medical professionals, and in Waterloo, a fundraising luncheon at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church and visit to the Centre for International Governance and Innovation (CIGI).
On returning to Belgrade in 2001, Crown Princess Katherine established the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation and she continues to work tirelessly through this foundation and the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization to benefit the people of Serbia, in particular the disadvantaged: children, the sick, the elderly and the displaced.
Her organization has contributed to major changes in hospitals and clinics throughout the country including the establishment of maternal and neonatal intensive care units and the purchase of mobile digital mammography equipment to diagnose breast cancer.
In addition, hundreds of lives have been saved since the 2008 opening of a surgical unit in Belgrade specializing in the care of children and adults with congenital heart disease. The unit is but one outcome of a project initiated by Her Royal Highness to facilitate the international exchange of medical expertise and is supported by collaboration with a renowned Swiss cardiac surgeon.
