World Series of Gifting: Team Edition Launched on Facebook

Gifting on social networks is becoming more popular than ever. Not least signalled by Facebook's recent acquisition of gift card application, Karma, and subsequent release of their native Gifts application last month, allowing users to send real, physical gifts to their friends from within the social network.
The phenomenon of gifting is equally strong within the social gaming sphere, where users can send gifts of in-game items and currency to their friends. In August, the first ever event occurred on Facebook, run by social slots application, . WSOG introduced the concept of tournament play based upon sending and receiving gifts and was the first event to take into account the booming popularity of gifting within the social gaming ecosystem.

Trophy Slots is now launching the second round of the competition, this time increasing the social factor by allowing players to compete for a team of their choice. The allows Facebook Groups and Pages to participate as a unit by registering through the . Prizes will be awarded to both the highest ranked teams and individuals at the end of the competition, based upon the total number of gifts sent and collected. This is the first time that a social gaming application has utilised the natural phenomena of Facebook gaming groups and pages in this way.

Teams can register to take part in the event by sending a message through the , including the name and URL of their Facebook Group or Page. Registration is open from now until the end of October 2012.
