Nanometrics to Deploy Seismicity-Monitoring Array in British Columbia
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/23/12 -- Nanometrics is pleased to announce the award of contract by Geoscience BC for a seismicity-monitoring array in Northern British Columbia. The network will consist of Nanometrics Trillium Posthole Seismometers and Libra II real-time VSAT communications equipment. The Nanometrics array will allow the project partners (Geoscience BC, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), BC Oil and Gas Commission and Natural Resources Canada), to monitor induced and natural seismicity in the area and thereby develop a better understanding of the seismic effects of hydraulic fracturing operations in the Horn River Basin.
"This contract is affirmation of Nanometrics unique ability to monitor seismicity in real-time and distinguish induced events from natural events", commented Neil Spriggs, Nanometrics Co-President. "Nanometrics will manage the entire deployment, providing real-time data to Natural Resources Canada facilities in Sidney, British Columbia within 4 months".
