Canada's Top Angel Investment Group to Open Chapters in Winnipeg and Kelowna
VA Angels new chapters launching in November 2012
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/23/12 -- Leading Canadian angel group, VA Angels, formally Venture Alberta Forum, announces the launch of new Winnipeg and Kelowna chapters. These new chapters will officially open in November 2012 and will take the angel group to four locations - Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Kelowna.
"These two new chapters have been created out of demand from angels across western Canada who want to invest more readily in the technology space that is rapidly growing across the western provinces," said Randy Thompson, VA Angel CEO and Founder. "In addition the capital growth of these regions, there is a healthy number of angel investors, former business owners and professionals looking to continue to diversify their investments in the two cities, which makes them ideal locations for VA Angels chapters."
VA Angels is one of the most active investor groups in the country and was recently chosen by Harvard Business School as one of only two angel groups in Canada to participate in a study on global angel investment activity. The group has done 57 deals for $28.3 million since 2003.
The VA Angels Winnipeg group will be run by S. Mark Francis, the Western Canadian Advisor for the Canadian National Stock Exchange. Francis has been with the Canadian National Stock Exchange since 2003 and is a veteran business consultant.
The VA Angels Kelowna group will be run by Randy Lennon, the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Meridian Merchant Capital Ltd. Lennon is a 30 year entrepreneur who has founded and built successful enterprises in the fields of newspaper publishing, television and radio, recording artist management, retail, advertising and marketing, and the Internet.
