Reply.com Opens Silicon Valley's Season of Giving Benefitting the FEED Foundation and Mona Foundation
December 4th Luncheon Benefit Will Promote Universal Philanthropy Among the Valley's Tech Companies

(firmenpresse) - SAN RAMON, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/24/12 -- , the leading marketplace for locally-targeted advertisers, is kicking off Silicon Valley's season of giving by hosting its second annual invitation-only event, "Holidays with a Purpose," which will benefit the and the . The event will be held on December 4th at 12pm PST at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park, CA.
"The event has two key purposes -- support the valuable work of these great foundations and promote the idea of universal philanthropy. The hope is that every company and every professional in Silicon Valley and elsewhere will incorporate philanthropic giving into their holiday activities. Regardless of the amount, the act of giving shows that we collectively care," said Payam Zamani, Founder and CEO of Reply.com. "Silicon Valley creates technologies that have dramatically changed the world. There's so much more we in the community can do with the resources and clout that we have to better the world. We are excited that 'Holidays with a Purpose' will bring us together to help provide for basic needs such as food and education."
Co-founded by Lauren Bush Lauren, the FEED Foundation is dedicated to supporting programs and organizations that are effectively working to fight hunger and eliminate malnutrition throughout the world. As of 2011, the FEED Foundation and its retail partner have provided 60 million free, nutritious school meals to children in 62 countries.
"Silicon Valley produces some of the world's most innovative technologies, and as a community it has the tremendous ability to have an impact on societies in every corner of the globe," said Lauren Bush Lauren, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of the FEED Foundation. "We are excited to engage with the Valley's movers and thinkers and reach our goal of providing one million meals to under-privileged schoolchildren as a result of this event."
The FEED Foundation is a new beneficiary of Reply.com's annual giving event. Contributions at last year's event supported the Mona Foundation, whose main objectives are to provide quality education to all children, raise the status of women and girls, and build community capacity in areas where its partner projects are located. The Seattle-based organization supports many projects around the world, including the New Horizon School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the Association of the Cohesive Development of the Amazon in Brazil, and the Digital Study Hall in India.
"A society's future depends a great deal on the educational opportunities it provides to its children," said Rainn Wilson, a long-time Mona Foundation supporter, and an actor and comedian best-known for his role as "Dwight" in NBC's hit television show, The Office. "My personal visits to several of the Mona Foundation's projects have shown me the impact of contributions, no matter how small, in enabling grassroots organizations around the world to provide a better and sustainable education to their future generation."
Reply.com's benefit last year raised $100,000 for the Mona Foundation, which helped expand the New Horizon School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This year's event aims to match last year's donations to the Mona Foundation as well as raise another $100,000 to fund one million school meals through the FEED Foundation. One hundred percent of contributions to the Mona Foundation and the FEED Foundation will go directly to sponsored programs, with no donations going to administrative or overhead fees.
