Resting Myths Uncovered

(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/12 -- When you become engrossed in a fitness routine it can be quite easy to forget how important it is to rest. Rest days are crucial for allowing your body to recover from the pressure you put it under during an intense workout. It's thought that products such as , and although there may not be copious amounts of scientific research to prove this, the benefits of allowing your body to recover are absolutely crucial if you work out regularly.

Here's why:

There's a large amount of psychology attached to exercising so it's good to build in rest days to get a better balance between fitness goals, work and home life.

To put it simply, your body needs time off! If you're trying to build muscle, then by working out every day you are actually stopping your muscles from repairing and strengthening, which can only cause damage in the long run.

If you don't allow your muscles to repair your body then has to work against you, not with you like it should be. This can lead to developing a condition called 'overtraining syndrome' which includes symptoms such as depression, feeling as though you have no energy, and a decline in gym performance as well as developing the risk of injury.

If you can hit the balance between rest and exercise spot on, your body will benefit from increased fitness and well-being and you'll reap all the benefits of working out without putting your body at risk. If you're working out five days a week, make the other two days rest days to give your body time to recuperate.
