Media Advisory: Ceremony to Mark the Change of Command of the Canadian Forces
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/12 -- His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will preside over the Change of Command ceremony which will see command of the Canadian Forces transfer from General Walt Natynczyk to Lieutenant-General Tom Lawson.
When: Monday October 29, 2012 at 9 a.m.
Where: Canadian War Museum
What: Change of Command ceremony for the Chief of the Defence Staff
The ceremony will include a 50-person guard of honour and a colour party, with music provided by the Central Band of the Canadian Forces and the Air Command Pipes and Drums.
Media are invited to cover the change of command ceremony and should be in the designated area at the museum no later than 8:30 a.m. There will be a media opportunity immediately following the ceremony with Lieutenant-General Lawson.
Notes to editor / news director: For more information, and to confirm attendance, interested media are requested to contact the DND Media Liaison Office at 1 866 377-0811, , no later than 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday October 26, 2012. Please note that accreditation must be completed in advance. Access to the site will not be granted on the day of the event to non-registered media.
Accredited media sign-in will begin at 7:00a.m. Due to logistical and security considerations, media arriving after 8:30 a.m. will not be granted access to the venue. Please note that, as space is limited, attendance of all media having requested accreditation may not be possible. An early arrival is therefore recommended. Valid photo I.D. is required to access the site.
Official Rank Note: Lieutenant-General Lawson's rank during and following the Change of Command ceremony will be General.
