Central Concrete Completes Acquisition of Bode Concrete
Two Companies Share Long Legacy in SF Bay Area

(firmenpresse) - SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/30/12 -- Central Concrete Supply Co., a U.S. Concrete Company and the leader in delivering low-CO2 concrete to the Bay Area, announced today that it has officially closed the acquisition of Bode Concrete LLC and Bode Gravel Co., a leading ready-mix supplier located in San Francisco.
Founded in 1915, Bode Concrete is one of the few concrete suppliers in the San Francisco Bay Area with a longer history than Central Concrete Supply, which was founded in the 1940s. The merging of these two highly respected Bay Area concrete suppliers brings a wealth of technical expertise and customer focus together into a single company that is expected to extend its reach and deliver even greater value to project owners, designers and contractors.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Bode Concrete into the Central Concrete family," said Jeff Davis, vice president and general manager, Central Concrete. "Together, we share a combined legacy of more than 160 years in the Bay Area, a common commitment to innovation and sustainability, and most importantly, personal, genuine relationships with our customers."
"The opportunity to be a part of the Central family is truly an honor," said Dan Boardman, President, Bode Concrete. "Central's deep product, production and delivery depth, along with our shared dedication to providing the ultimate in customer service, will allow us to deliver even more services to our loyal, local customers."
Together, Central and Bode are recognized for their leadership and unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Both companies use best practices to recycle all un-used concrete, employ sophisticated washout systems, recycle water, utilize delivery vehicles powered by biofuels, and have developed low-CO2 ready-mix products that significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional concrete.
Since 2006, Central Concrete has been delivering low-CO2 concrete mixes significantly reducing GHG emissions. In addition, Central Concrete was the first concrete company in the nation to adopt a carbon calculator, measuring both the water footprint and the carbon footprint of each customer-specified mix.
In 2009, Bode was the first Concrete Plant in California to earn the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) Green-Star Certification. Bode implemented an aggressive Environmental Management System (EMS) that included plans to manage water quality, air quality, and hazardous and solid materials; improve sustainability; and meet the unique requirements outlined by San Francisco. A significant investment included one of the largest concrete reclaim systems in the country, allowing leftover concrete to be manufactured into new concrete products.
The companies are also recognized for success with highly visible and technically challenging projects.
Signature Bode Concrete projects in San Francisco include:
One Rincon Hill
The Millennium Tower
Infinity Tower
The new San Francisco Exploratorium
San Francisco General Hospital
Central is well-recognized for the following, award-winning projects:
