(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 11/01/12 -- The World Poker Tour touches down on Irish soil for the second year running in January 2013 at the PKR.com WPT National Dublin. Once again, the Main Event will take place at the Citywest Hotel from 03-06 January, this time with a buy-in of EUR1,200 + EUR120 buy-in (with re-entry available). With official sponsor PKR.com offering $3,000 packages through satellites from under $2, a large contingent of online qualifiers is anticipated.
As well as the Main Event, players will also be offered a range of side events including the Irish Poker Championship.
The room's $3,000 WPT Experience package includes entry to the Main Event, four nights of accommodation at the Citywest Hotel, $300 in travel expenses and an invitation to PKR's VIP events. PKR qualifiers will also have access to an exclusive Players Lounge.
As well as weekly $200 buy-in direct entry satellite Finals, PKR also offers a range of multi-table, Sit & Go and lottery super satellites starting from $1.50. In addition to the regular satellite schedule, PKR players can also freeroll their way to a $3,000 package through the Dublin Nights promotion, where players can earn chips for the final freeroll through participation in nightly tournaments.
With its reputation for throwing a good party and its VIP treatment of online qualifiers, PKR has created a niche for itself in the live event sphere. At the inaugural WPT Ireland in January 2012, qualifiers took on world snooker champion Ken Docherty at a different kind of felt - the pool table - and continued the New Year celebrations at a range of all-expenses paid hospitality events. 2012 WPT Ireland
Last January's EUR2,500 buy-in WPT Ireland attracted a field of 338 entrants, with professional poker player Dave Shallow emerging with the EUR222,000 first prize. PKR qualifier Patrik 'PatIvey' Vestlin performed best of the 50-strong contingent sent by the next-gen poker room. The Swede finished in fourth place for EUR52,600. The field featured a number of well-known players including Andy Black, Sam Trickett, James Akenhead, James Dempsey and Marvin Rettenmaier. Team PKR Pros Jake Cody, Vladimir Geshkenbein, Scott Shelley, Sofia Lovgren and Marc Bariller also took part, and are expected to return in January.
