Tieto sells its Belarus operations to ScienceSoft and agrees on a long-term subcontracting partnership

Tieto has decided to sell the shares of its Belarus operations to ScienceSoft
that will remain as Tieto's subcontractor for customer deliveries. All 90
employees of Tieto Belarus will be employed by ScienceSoft. The divestment
supports Tieto's strategy to simplify and focus its operations geographically.
The unit in Minsk, Belarus was established at the end of 2007 to act as near-
shore development centre for various Tieto businesses, and especially to support
the growth in Russia.
"With this arrangement the options for growth remain unchanged and also the
availability of high quality competence will continue under a new set-up," says
Sampo Salonen, Executive Vice President, Global Delivery and Quality, Tieto.
ScienceSoft has customers in 20 countries, mainly in Europe, USA and Russia. For
Tieto, ScienceSoft has been a long-term partner since 2007. As part of this
arrangement ScienceSoft will establish an ODC (offshore development centre) for
parts of current Tieto production. The security regulations and working methods
will follow Tieto's practices and customer commitments. Part of Tieto deliveries
will be gradually transferred to Tieto's Global Delivery Centers in the Czech
Republic and in India.
