In one generation the popular image of grand-parenting has changed; no longer are traditional stereotypes of pipes, slippers and hair nets true.

Sharon Osbourne
Another rocking grandparent still proving that celebrity culture isn't all about the youth of today is Sharon Osbourne. Married to rocker Ozzy Osbourne, the couple turned grandparents earlier this year when their son Jack had his firstborn child, a baby girl.
When Sharon is not doting on the newest member of the family, she is busy being one of the judges on popular TV talent shows such as The X Factor and America's Got Talent passing on her musical wisdom to a new generation of stars.
Lionel Richie, Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey and Paul McCartney are just a few others to add to the list of modern day over 50's who are changing the image of grandparents.
A growing number of grandparents are continuing to work for longer, which is also stamping out the typical picture of grandparents.
Today's over-50s are more active and are continuing to break down traditional stereotypes about what it means to grow old. One area that you may want to consider is to help cover any additional costs, such as funeral expenses.
