Shake, Shake, Shake: Skout Upgrades iOS App, Introduces Shake to Chat
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/05/12 -- , one of the largest mobile networks for meeting new people, is introducing an upgraded app with a new Shake to Chat feature for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, allowing community members to connect with someone nearby simply by shaking their phone. Encouraging people to make new friends wherever they are, Shake to Chat helps Skout users connect with someone completely new for a brief chat session before profiles are revealed. Additionally, Skout has bolstered the Chat feature with more content-sharing options like sending photos, Gifts, and emoticons.
According to a Harris Interactive survey commissioned by Skout, 36 percent of American adults have met a good friend through technology while more than half of all American adults are currently pursuing new friendships. The new Shake to Chat feature will connect more of these people, helping to knock down the common barriers to making new friends such as shyness, work commitments and not knowing where to meet up.
"Shake to Chat is super addicting," said user Andre Sias. "I've met new friends and had really fun conversations with all kinds of new people -- people I never would have connected with otherwise. Skout is literally shaking up my social life and I love the surprise factor when our profiles are revealed."
Users simply tap the Shake to Chat button and shake their mobile device, instantly connecting them to someone who is "shaking" nearby. Both users chat for 60 seconds before profiles are revealed. They can then continue chatting or shake to chat with someone else. The serendipitous nature of the Shake to Chat feature connects people who may not normally meet in person, potentially unveiling shared interests and starting new friendships.

In addition to the Shake to Chat feature, Skout has enhanced its iOS app to make it easier to share content through chatting. Photos, gifts and emoticons can now be sent from a single menu.
