Four CCR-Supported Companies Among Canada's Top 20 Innovators

Firms to present at CIX Innovation Showcase on Nov. 27


(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/08/12 -- Four digital media companies supported by Centre for the Commercialization of Research (CCR) have been named as some of Canada's hottest innovators by the Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX).

"I'm proud that CCR is able to work with this country's brightest, best and most innovative companies," said Dr. Mario Thomas, Managing Director of CCR. "We are committed to bridging the commercialization gap in Canada and I'm pleased that companies we are supporting are being recognized in this way."

They are among 20 finalists, chosen by a selection committee of industry experts, from a list of companies from across the country. They will be featured in live showcases at CIX's annual event to be held on Nov. 27 in Toronto where entrepreneurs and key players in technology-based industries from Canada and around the world make important connections.

The CIX Top 20 is considered an important indicator of Canada's best emerging technology companies. Previous CIX Top 20 finalists have included:

Established in 2008, the Centre for Commercialization of Research (CCR) is a federally-funded Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) under the Networks of Centres of Excellence program. Drawing on its unique approach to commercialization, CCR provides business services and funding to support the growth of early-stage companies whose products or technologies have been developed by publicly funded Canadian academic/research institutions. The CCR is a division of Ontario Centres of Excellence.
