BeProud Foundation Launches With Nationwide Prime-Time Broadcast PSA and Social Media Campaign to Combat Intolerance and Hate Crimes

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/12/12 -- today announced the launch of a multimillion-dollar campaign to end hate and encourage self-pride. In addition to early support by a growing list of celebrities and cultural leaders including the Nelson Mandela family, BeProud has also attracted a large social following via Facebook and Twitter. The broadcast PSA campaign begins on November 12 across national prime-time markets. A preview is available at

Founded by Internet entrepreneur Gurbaksh Chahal, the BeProud Foundation is committed to a wide-reaching education and awareness campaign that spans both mass media and social media. Born after the tragic shootings at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in August 2012, the foundation has a simple yet challenging mission: to end hate. The BeProud campaign will foster unity by raising awareness, sharing inspiring stories, and influencing people at every level of society.

"The BeProud Foundation isn't just to raise awareness of a particular group. It's greater than any religion, culture, nationality or appearance. It's about embracing humanity," says Chahal. "Through education and awareness, we can eliminate hate crimes in this world. We are all a little different, and we should be proud of what makes us unique. This campaign is just the beginning."

To join the movement, supporters are encouraged to use BeProud's to change their profile picture to include a BeProud stamp showing their commitment in ending hate, follow on Twitter and , and upload videos to with the tags #BeProud and #EndHate, telling others around the world what they are most proud of.

"The United States is rapidly becoming a country where ethnocentrism, racism, bigotry, and prejudice have no place at all," says world-renowned healer and bestselling author Deepak Chopra. "I am endorsing Gurbaksh Chahal's great idea of creating a more tolerant society."

"It's something that I feel really strongly about," says music pioneer, record producer, and BeProud supporter Jay Sean. "We share this planet together. There should be no room for any of these hate crimes."
