Board of Medicine complaint filed against Dr. Sharda Kaul by son of her patient, Helen Bousquet

The son of a woman who died following knee surgery has filed a complaint against
Dr. Sharda Kaul, the general physician of Helen Marie Bousquet. The surgery took
place at The Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts.
Brian Evans has filed the complaint with the Massachusetts Board of Medicine,
and an investigation has begun.
"As the general physician to my mother, it was this doctor's responsibility to
make sure my mother's recovery care instructions were in order. This woman knew
my mother had sleep apnea, indeed assisted her in getting a CPAP machine for
home use, and yet allowed her to have surgery, be placed on morphine, knowing
she had sleep apnea and a heart condition, and placed in an unmonitored recovery
room following this knee surgery where she choked to death without anyone in the
hospital even knowing she was in crisis. In my opinion, all of the doctor's
involved in her care are guilty of criminally negligent homicide," says Evans.
"Too often doctors and hospitals get a pass because the word "hospital" or
"doctor" is on the building. This is beyond malpractice, and it's beyond a civil
action. It is a crime."
"I called this doctor month's before this surgery to express my concerns, and
she obviously didn't take those concerns seriously. On the phone when I spoke to
her after my mother passed, she stated to me on the phone that yes, she should
have been monitored. But they all change their stories when they get together
with one another to cover themselves, and I expect they'll do exactly that,"
Evans says.
"On my mother's death certificate, they listed seven causes of death despite
there not being an autopsy," says Evans. The funeral home director comments on
this in a story visible at www.valleypatriot.com in an interview with that
paper.
Evans filed a police report with The Methuen Police Department alleging
criminally negligent homicide in the death of his mother against all involved.
He has a meeting with state senators at the Massachusetts State House on
November 13th.
US Senator John Kerry forwarded Evans' complaint regarding the hospital to
investigators directly.

"I blame myself. I should have been there to rescue her from these idiots, which
by the results of her care is exactly what they were. You don't go in for knee
surgery and die, but you do at The Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, and other
people are coming forward with similar stories and it disgusts me."
