350 new jobs at the Hillsboro/Oregon site
The expansion of SolarWorld AG in the USA is picking up speed. Around 350
new jobs will be filled at the Hillsboro/Oregon site of SolarWorld in the
next few months. The group is expanding its production capacities in the
USA along the entire value chain. On the whole the headcount in Hillsboro
will increase from currently 650 to some 1,000 people. Together with its
locations in Camarillo/California and Vancouver/Washington SolarWorld is
the largest manufacturer of highly efficient solar power products in the
United States. The USA are considered to be one of the fastest growing
solar markets in the world.
'We are further expanding our position of leadership as a provider of
high-quality solar power technology in the USA. The demand for clean energy
generation is increasing. The oil disaster off the US coast is alarming and
shows the dangers of finite energy sources', explains Frank H. Asbeck,
Chairman and CEO of SolarWorld AG.
Highly attractive for junior staff
Top ranking in Universum Student Survey
'We are delighted with the high level of attractiveness that our company
enjoys as a potential employer among young academic staff,' adds Frank H.
Asbeck. In the most recent 'Universum Student Survey 2010' published by the
Wirtschaftswoche business magazine employment at SolarWorld is rated as
being very attractive. Among the most popular employers for university
graduates SolarWorld is in 13th place with engineers, and even among the
top ten with natural scientists. Students at more than 100 higher education
establishments in Germany were included in the survey. 'This great result
is the success of our personnel policy which permanently works on gaining
and retaining creative talents for our company,' says Frank H. Asbeck. Also
this year SolarWorld AG was awarded by the Great Place to Work(R) Institute
Germany for being among the 100 best employers in Germany for the second
time in succession.
