(firmenpresse) - SAN ANTONIO, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 11/13/12 -- They can perform brain surgery on a Boston Terrier or fix your black cat's broken bones.

Mission Veterinary Specialists boasts a staff of doctors and medical professionals similar to what is found at top-notch human hospitals, all dedicated to solving the complex medical problems of people's pets. The new referral veterinary practice recently opened in a 4,700 square-foot facility at 8202 N. Loop 1604 South.

"Today, pets are beloved members of our families," said Ryan Buck, chief operating officer for the practice. "Mission Veterinary Specialists provides the same level of care you'd want available to your two-legged relatives."

The clinic has specialists in areas including neurology, surgery, internal medicine, and cardiology. The new clinic will create 20 full- and part-time jobs in San Antonio.

The new facility also has some of the best veterinary medical technology available, including an MRI machine, digital x-ray, ultrasound, stem cell purifiers and laparoscopes.

"With the technology and expertise we have available, we can heal a dog or cat when they've been hit by a car or suffered some other debilitating injury that once might have caused them to be put to sleep," Buck said. "Even after a tragic injury, we can give pet owners many more years of loving companionship with their favorite pets."

The clinic is dedicated to maintaining the special bond between pet and owner, he said.
"We understand how important animals are in people's lives," Buck said. "That's why we've assembled this combination of top expertise and cutting-edge technology to make sure we can help those pets live longer, happier and healthier lives with their favorite humans."

Mission Veterinary Specialists shares the new facility with Mission Pet Emergency, formerly I-10 Pet Emergency. The two practices closely collaborate to create a constant continuum of care for patients. Emergency services are offered overnight seven days a week, and 24-hours a day during weekends. Specialty veterinary services are provided on a referral basis from area veterinarians from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
