Gecko plans to launch Gecko's Family and Friend Finder for over 100 million consumer subscribers. A "must have" service, Family and Friend Finder will provide safety, peace of mind, and convenience. Users can send SMS text messages to find the location of any phone, as well as activate alarms to inform family members if they find themselves in dangerous situations.

Soon available for operators and phone companies to increase sales and differentiate services, the first agreements are expected to be formalized later this year. Several implementations are expected to take place in Africa early in 2013 and expanded into Asia and other emerging markets thereafter.
Gecko Finder:
Send a text message FIND < with person or child's phone number > to the Finder service short number
With one-time permission of the phone owner, the location of the child automatically returns in a text message
All phones are supported and located in a format that is understood by everybody
Alarm informs everyone if in trouble -- send a text message "SOS" to the service number
An alarm message is sent as text with location to predefined list of users
