LIVESTRONG Foundation Appoints New Leadership Positions

(firmenpresse) - AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/12 -- Today, the announced the appointments of as vice president of programs and Heather Wajer as vice president of marketing.

As vice president of programs, Johnson plans, develops and enacts innovative and effective programs to serve those affected by cancer and empower them to take action against the world's leading cause of death. She also manages the day-to-day operations of the programs team.
While living in Chicago, Johnson worked at the Community Mental Health Care Center as a case manager for mentally ill citizens. She moved to Austin in 1999 to first serve as associate dean of student affairs at Huston-Tillotson University, then moved on to be the regional director of health initiatives at the American Cancer Society, and also worked in the Center for Consumer and External Affairs at the Texas Department of State Health Services. Johnson received a B.S. from Southern University and an M.A. from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.
Johnson remains active in the community, working with the Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, American Cancer Society, Beta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and the Austin Chapter of the Links. She resides in Round Rock with her husband, Damon, her daughter, Kamryn, and her son, Omari.
In her role as the vice president of marketing, Wajer is responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive integrated marketing, events and brand partnership strategies that enhance the mission and vision of the Foundation. She also oversees the development of the LIVE brand's ongoing global evolution.
Wajer joins the Foundation after serving as Chief Marketing Officer of MOG, a start-up in the digital music subscription space. Prior to that, she was vice president of marketing for BabyCenter, providing strategic direction for the brand, partnership and customer acquisition marketing initiatives. She has also held leadership positions at a variety of other pioneers in the digital music space, including MP3.com and eMusic.
Wajer is a new resident of Austin, residing with her partner, Shane, and her son, Griffin. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, biking and running (sometimes all in the same day), which have helped her compete in three Ironman competitions, including this year's Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. She holds a B.A. from the University of Vermont.
