Nine LG Refrigerators Meet New Industry Sustainability Standard
(firmenpresse) - ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NEW JERSEY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/27/12 -- LG Electronics has become the first major appliance manufacturer to have its refrigerators certified by CSA Group to meet the industry's new Sustainability Standard for Household Refrigeration Appliances.
Nine LG refrigerators, from popular French Door models to all-new LG ThinQ "smart" models, achieved the levels required to meet the new environmental standard, according to CSA Group.
The 2012 sustainability standard is based on a lifecycle approach for identifying the environmental impacts of refrigerator products in five key areas: materials, manufacturing and operations, energy consumption during use, product performance and end of life. This is the first in a series of product sustainability standards for use by manufacturers, governments, retailers and others to identify products with features designed with the environment in mind.

In addition to bearing the recognized CSA Group certification mark for safety and performance, the LG refrigerators will also include the CSA Group sustainability mark that indicates to retailers, regulators, and consumers that a product has met the environmental performance requirements for product specific sustainability as set forth in the Sustainability Standard for Household Refrigeration Appliances.

CSA Group worked closely with the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and other stakeholders to develop the sustainability standard, which was announced in Washington, D.C. in June 2012.
Announcing the publication of the standard, AHAM President Joseph M. McGuire said, "We believe this standard and others that will follow represent a strong commitment to sustainability and provide workable tools for appliance purchasers to compare the environmental attributes of appliances."
The following LG refrigerators have been certified by CSA Group to meet the new refrigeration sustainability standard: LFX31925ST, LFX31925SB, LFX31925SW, LFX31915ST, LFX31915SB, LFX31915S, LFX31995ST, LFX31945ST and LFX31935ST. For more information on LG appliances, please visit .
