CBC Calgary and Suncor Energy have launched their 27th annual . Live this morning on CBC Radio One's The Calgary Eyeopener, Suncor Energy kick started this year's campaign with a $50,000 donation to help reach the goal of $1 million for the .
With the generous support of Calgarians over the last 26 years, the has raised more than $12 million for the . It has become one of the organization's key fundraising campaigns.
"In many ways Calgary is considered the land of plenty; but for the more than 136,000 clients who visited the Calgary Food Bank this past year, clearly this is not the case," said Steve Williams, president and CEO, Suncor. "At first glance our fundraising goal of $1 million might seem ambitious, but it's what we need to raise to help build a Calgary without hunger."
New this year is a limited edition t-shirt designed for the Drive by local chef, food writer and t-shirt aficionado, Pierre Lamielle. A limited number of t-shirts will be available during the . Pierre has designed a new and funky way for Calgarians to give to this important campaign. Pick one up at CBC Calgary or the Suncor Energy Centre donation desk before the last one disappears!
