MEDIA ADVISORY: More Than 100,000 Remembrance Wreaths to Be Placed at Arlington National Cemetery for National Wreaths Across America Day

Wreaths Across America, along with more than 15,000 volunteers, will lay remembrance wreaths on 140,000 headstones of our fallen military on National Wreaths Across America Day, . This is the organization's 21st year laying wreaths at our Nation's cemetery and marks the largest number ever delivered. A convoy of more than 25 vehicles, including tractor trailers, buses, motorcycles and cars carrying wreaths, veterans, families of fallen soldiers, and supporters, left Maine on Sunday, Dec. 9, to begin the six-day journey to Arlington National Cemetery. The convoy will make stops along the way at schools, veterans' homes and in communities in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, to share its mission to Remember, Honor and Teach.

7 - 8:00 a.m.: Media check in downstairs at the Visitor Center (check in is required for credentials)
8 a.m.: Arlington National Cemetery Gates open to public; a shuttle will be provided from Visitor Center for credentialed media to the Memorial Amphitheater
8:30/8:45 a.m.: Ceremonial parade of trucks/vehicles arrives at Arlington's main entrance
9:30 a.m.: Opening ceremony at Memorial Amphitheater
9:45 a.m.: Flyby by HMX1 helicopters
9:45 -10:15 a.m.: Media availability/photo ops with key spokespeople across from the entrance of the Amphitheater
10 a.m. - Noon: Wreath laying throughout cemetery (map provided to media upon check-in)




11 a.m.: Wreath laying at President Kennedy's grave
11:30 a.m.: Wreath laying at USS Maine Mast (Maine Gov. Paul LePage and First Lady)
Noon: Wreath laying at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Media interested in covering this event must register. Please register by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, by emailing .

We highly encourage metro use and will provide a shuttle to credentialed media that have registered. Media are welcome to park on Memorial Drive beginning at 7 a.m. or park free of charge in the ANC parking garage beginning at 7:15 a.m. Please note: free parking ends at 1 p.m.
