Knox County Commissioners Vote to Retain Quality EMS Leader


(firmenpresse) - SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 12/17/12 -- Rural/Metro Corporation, a leading national provider of ambulance and private fire protection services, announced today it has been awarded the exclusive, long-term contract to continue providing emergency ambulance services in Knox County, Tennessee. The award followed a unanimous vote today of the Knox County Commission.

"The County conducted a comprehensive selection process to ensure citizens that the very best pre-hospital medical professionals will be at their sides during emergencies. We thank the Knox County leadership, EMS Evaluation Committee and County Commissioners for their continued confidence and support."

The contract award is for an initial five-year term, followed by two, five-year renewal options thereafter. The new contract term is scheduled to take effect July 1, 2013. Rural/Metro provides services to more than 62,000 patients annually in Knox County.

Rural/Metro Ambulance has provided emergency and non-emergency services in Knox County since 1985. Additionally, Rural/Metro Fire Department has served customers in unincorporated Knox County for more than 25 years. The Company employs more than 500 medical transportation and fire service professionals in the area and is the only ambulance provider in Tennessee to receive national accreditation from the Commission for the Accreditation of Ambulance Services.
