WHY: Dr. Giuffre will announce a significant initiative in the AMA's efforts to communicate with and to engage patients and the Alberta public.
At a special meeting last Saturday (December 15) Alberta doctors agreed to continue to provide "the excellent care to patients that they deserve, in spite of the ongoing dispute with the government over contract negotiations" and rejected any job action that "adversely impacts patient care."
In a recent public opinion survey, Albertans said they'd welcome more information from their doctors. And physicians have told the AMA they are prepared to use their offices to provide patients with information.
