BDI - BioEnergy starts successful into 2013
with an international RetroFit project
* Revamping and optimisation of a biodiesel plant in South-East Europe
* Modernization of a non-BDI technology
* BDI respected as a biodiesel expert all over the world
(Grambach, 10.01.2013) BDI - BioEnergy International AG has obtained an
order for retrofitting a biodiesel plant in South-East Europe. A well-known
biodiesel producer has commissioned BDI to do the revamping and
optimisation of an existing biodiesel plant.
BDI starts with a large RetroFit-order (order total about EUR 3.6 million)
in the New Year.
This new contract demonstrates once again that BDI-RetroFit-technologies
are increasingly in demand internationally.
Despite the difficult economic situation in Europe for financing industrial
projects, especially in the business field of renewable energy, BDI
convinced the customer and the local funding banks, that the RetroFit
program will sustainably improve the existing biodiesel plant economically
and that the investment will quickly amortize itself.
After the conversion of the out-dated, German biodiesel-technology, the
plant will have significantly increased feedstock flexibility and the
quality of the produced biodiesel will fully comply in future with
stringent quality requirements.
The aim of this measure is to use waste materials of lower quality, such as
used cooking oil and animal fat, instead of vegetable oil. The
BioDiesel-distillation ensures that the quality of the produced BioDiesel
remains consistently high, even with poorer quality of raw materials.
'The challenge of this project is to retrofit a non-BDI biodiesel
technology with the BDI system by using existing infrastructure, without
interfering with the current biodiesel production significantly. The
objective is the revamping and modernization of the existing biodiesel
plant. This is useful not only because of increasingly stringent biodiesel
standards, but also in terms of quality, efficiency and raw materials
flexibility. With our successful completion of orders, we have proven our
expertise on several international occasions', so Edgar Ahn, Chief Sales
Officer at BDI.
BDI produced BioDiesel from used cooking oil for the first time as long ago
as 1994 and is considered to be of high renown in this field. BDI is the
world's leading technology supplier in the processing of animal fat too.
Thanks to RetroFit from BDI, existing plants can be renovated and optimised
and, as a result, return to profitable operation, irrespective of the
biodiesel technology involved.
