German machine-builders prefer fine-tuning the control technology this year. The Panel Pc benefits fromt his current trend.
(firmenpresse) - Bochum, 7th June 2010. Machine-builders prefer fine-tuning the control technology this year. This means to improve the consisting control technology at the machines instead of changing the control technology. The Panel PC benefits from this current trend.
Panel PC means operator panel with integrated control system. Compared with other control technologies such as PLC, PC, microprocessor control, CNC or contactor-based control technology the Panel PC shows the highest portion with new use.
68% of the machine-builder intending changes regarding this control type this year decide for a new use. 13% modify here and there already used Panel PC and 19% leave this control type.
The Panel PC already occupied rank 3 in the change of the control technologies last year. This year the Panel PC has reached rank 1 with the relatively highest portion of new use in the technology change.
There are above all cost saving and increase of performance the machine-builders want to achieve with the use of Panel PCs. The use of this control type corresponds to the main trend in the automation technology to an ever higher degree of integration.
Assign to this trend the Quest Trend Magazine publishes a cost-reduced solution combining a simple PC for operation with a compact, external control system module that can flexibly be mounted at the PC’s back plane or on a mounting rail.

The trends from the users’ point of view are based on market surveys of Quest TechnoMarketing, Bochum, London, with the title “What the machine-builders want to change in the automation technology 2010”. This survey was carried out in January/February and covered scarcely 250 representative machine-builders.
