An alliance with a future: NeckarCom sets store by euromicron's subsidiary
telent as its strategic partner for broadband expansion
Backnang, January 21, 2013. NeckarCom Telekommunikation GmbH, a
telecommunications subsidiary of the energy group EnBW, has chosen the
euromicron subsidiary telent GmbH as its new strategic partner for
broadband expansion. telent will support NeckarCom in developing regions
that do yet have high-speed broadband access and will assume responsibility
for planning, supplying and commissioning the passive and active network
components, including technical services, as well as operation and
troubleshooting in the networks. The VDSL2 technology comes from
Alcatel-Lucent.
Broadband in rural regions
The regional telecommunications provider NeckarCom is putting its trust in
telent's many years of experience as part of its broadband expansion
activities. The cooperation between EnBW's telecommunications subsidiary
and telent was signed and sealed back in August 2012 and an initial project
was launched. telent is installing more than 160 multifunctional cabinets
comprising active technology in the rural districts of Sigmaringen and
Ravensburg. In addition, NeckarCom is to connect more than 13,000 customers
up to the fiber-optic broadband network. Since December 2012, the first
customers have been able to achieve data transfer rates of up to 50 Mbit/s
thanks to VDSL2 and FTTH techology. Corporate customers are provided with
higher bit rates if required.
A one-stop shop
telent's services comprise planning, supplying and commissioning the
passive and active network components and complete after-sales support.
That includes round-the-clock operation and full troubleshooting in the
networks, services which are provided by the telent Network Operations
Center (NOC) in Backnang. telent is using the 73xx DSLAM (digital
subscriber line access multiplexer) system family from Alcatel-Lucent as
active technology in the project, which marks the beginning of strong
cooperation with Alcatel-Lucent. Thanks to the technology used, NeckarCom
will obtain a cutting-edge telecommunications platform for its broadband
Internet and triple play services (telephony, Internet, IPTV) via VDSL2.
