Russian Post makes payment systems secure and uses franking systems from
Francotyp-Postalia
- FP supplies Russian post offices with franking systems including
mailroom systems and data centre
- Potential to gain market share
- Management Board sees strategy in Eastern Europe and Asia as validated
Birkenwerder, 22 January 2013. Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG, the first
multi-channel provider for mail communication, will supply Russian post
offices with 105 CentorMail franking systems together with the accompanying
mailroom systems and a data centre. The contract with the Italian general
contractor Elsag was signed last year, and the franking machines will be
delivered with the accessories in the course of this year.
Russian Post has a strong interest in adding payment protection to the
general system of postage billing. Electronic franking systems offer a
patented, internationally tested protection and billing mode. The FP Group
has also cooperated well with Russian Post in the past.
'On the basis of this order, we see potential not only to bring new
franking systems to market but also to gain market share,' says Andreas
Drechsler, member of the Management Board of Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG.
Countries like Russia are modernising their infrastructure and rely on
secure payment systems. 'The FP Group is therefore investing more heavily
in promising postal markets such as Eastern Europe and Asia, in order to
compensate for the partially stagnating postal markets in the mature
economies in Central Europe,' Drechsler continues. 'We have put ourselves
in a good strategic position here so that we can grow profitably with our
traditional products.'
CentorMail is designed for large quantities of letter post, and is the
highest performing franking machine in FP's product range. The machine can
process an average of 120 to 150 letters per minute.
The FP Group is a specialist in physical and electronic mail communication.
The company is represented in more than 80 countries with its franking and
inserting machines. As of 2012, the FP Group is the first De-Mail provider
in its domestic market of Germany. As such, the company offers the
transmission of legally secure electronic letters in order to benefit from
the increasing digitilisation of mail.
