Tieto renews financial accounting system for VR Group

Tieto will deliver a SAP based financial management accounting system to VR
Group. The system renewal stems from the standardisation of VR's financial
management processes and practices. The delivery covers VR Group's financial
management operations in Finland and units abroad. The system will be available
in VR's Finnish group companies by the end of 2011, and the entire delivery will
be completed during 2012.
"We are currently concentrating financial management operations in a Group-level
unit, which requires reviewing the financial management operations as a whole.
The system renewal gives an ideal support to the standardisation of financial
management practices and processes, and provides an opportunity to reduce the
number of systems we currently use," says Heli Lehtonen, Senior Vice President,
Finance, VR-Group Ltd.
"SAP projects hold a key position in our strategy. We believe that our SAP
skills and experience in financial management development projects will help VR
to raise financial management processes and services to a new level," says Rolf
Lindén, Head of Retail and Logistics at Tieto, Finland.
This year, the parties have also signed an agreement on an e-Infra service,
which ensures the availability of dozens of different network services to VR's
customers. For example, the e-ticket service used by consumers operates on
Tieto's e-infra platform. This operating environment provides secure
business-critical production and test use for network services and ensures high
availability.
