Munich – January 2013. “Better less, but that in high quality” was the outcome of a survey conducted by WOLFFKRAN among crane operators to define the ideal crane cabin. Based on this survey the Heilbronn-based company has designed an innovative cabin which is unparalleled in terms of comfort and functionality, resulting in increased productivity and work safety on the construction site. The new WOLFF CAB has an even more comfortable interior and is fitted with many high-quality features

(firmenpresse) - Visibly better

More room, numerous amenities, improved visibility – in short: more comfort and safety were the mission statement for the design of the new WOLFF CAB which WOLFFKRAN offers initially for its flat-top models city and clear, and soon for all luffing cranes and trolley jib cranes. “We listened carefully to what the crane operators felt was important,” says Johannes Kleinknecht, Project Manager at WOLFFKRAN. “Visibility in the cabin was an overriding concern for the respondents, and in the design special attention was thus paid to optimising the field of view,” continues Kleinknecht. To ensure best possible vision, the position of the bar on the front windscreen was optimised, the windscreen wiper motor shifted laterally and the side windows constructed of a single pane. All window panes of the new cabin are glued and not as hitherto secured with rubber glazing profiles, further widening the field of vision.

Simpler switches and controls

The core elements of the crane cabin, the control panels, were completely redesigned by WOLFFKRAN according to the demands of the users. “The master switches are smaller and operate more smoothly than before,” explains Kleinknecht. “Together with the ergonomic armrests this guarantees fatigue-free working.” Flatter buttons and flat-profile bellows mean easier cleaning and less maintenance. New technical features, such as the radio with SD/USB connection and Bluetooth hands-free equipment, six sockets and an optional versatile touch panel PC round off the modern cabin design.

More comfortable working

The crane operator can expect more space and therefore more freedom of movement in his new working environment. The cabin has additional storage space and surfaces, enabling more practicable working. The new seat also offers more agility. It can be adjusted horizontally and vertically to all individual body heights. In addition it features ample length adjustment, ensuring a perfect downward view at a steep angle.

In all weathers

More efficient heating with adjustable air diffusers along the side and front windows, a beverage cooler/heater and improved insulation in the newly designed cabin ensure optimum working conditions the whole year round. Tinted glass and high-quality blinds guarantee the required sun and glare protection. If desired, the cabin can be equipped with an air conditioning unit, which can also be retrofitted.
“Our forerunner cabin was already one of the most practical and comfortable on the market,” says Kleinknecht. “With the new cabin we have achieved the next higher league in terms of fittings, comfort and work safety.”
