New executive director at SpareBank 1 SMN

Vegard Helland (35) is appointed new Executive Director in the Corporate market
Division of SpareBank 1 SMN. Reidar Stokke (53) moves to a new senior post in
the Group.
Mr Helland, who is due to take up duties as Executive Director on 1 August
2010, was born and grew up in Steinkjer, and since 1999 has resided in
Trondheim. He is a business economist from the Bodø Graduate School of Business
(HHB) and authorised financial analyst (AFA) from the Norwegian School of
Economics and Business Administration. He was previously with KPMG and, since
2003, SpareBank 1 SMN. He is currently Executive Manager and Head of the
Department catering to major clients in the corporate market.
The Corporate market Division at SpareBank 1 SMN has 173 full-time-position
equivalents, i.e. a doubling over the past five years. The Capital markets
Division accounts for 40 per cent of this figure, and multi-relationship
customers now total about 140,000 after as many as 500 new firms joined the bank
last year.
Reidar Stokke moves to a new senior post with the group after five years as
Executive Director in the Corporate market Division. Mr Stokke has headed the
division through a period of buoyant growth featuring a tripling of loanable
capital to NOK 40 billion.
Mr Stokke is the new Director of SpareBank 1 SMN Invest, which is an investment
company wholly owned by SpareBank 1 SMN. The company manages a portfolio with a
market value (1st quarter 2010) of NOK 259 million. Its largest share
investments are in Polaris Media and Det Norske Oljeselskap. The company has
also acquired large holdings in Hommelvik Sjøside and Grilstad Marina.
