Michael has a strong practice which combines a labour law background with an extensive knowledge of human resources and employment law. He acts for employers in collective bargaining, arbitrations, strikes and contract administration matters. He has advised employers on dealing with union organizational activity and provided counseling on various workplace matters, including employee discipline and termination, privacy issues, employment agreements, harassment/discrimination, drug testing polices, and sick leaves. He has also provided guidance to boards of directors and compensation committees on executive employment matters. Currently, he is involved in one of the largest employment class action lawsuits relating to employee benefits in the Alberta court system.
Heather has over 20 years of experience in the area of civil litigation and dispute resolution and frequently appears before both the Trial and Appellate Courts in the Province of Alberta, the Federal Court of Canada and various tribunals. Heather acts as counsel to clients in complex litigation and disputes, including, extensive experience with negotiations and mediation on matters related to energy, aboriginal and constitutional law, general commercial disputes, transportation, aviation, human rights and employment law.
This latest addition will bring the Calgary office up over 50 lawyers covering more than 25 practice areas, including energy, securities & corporate finance, corporate and commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, dispute resolution, and international business transactions.
