NORMA Group halves weight of push&seal quick connectors
Maintal, Germany, 13 February 2013 - NORMA Group AG ('NORMA Group'), a
global market and technology leader in engineered joining technology, has
developed a material-optimized push&seal quick connector for cooling water
systems in passenger cars. The new design reduces the overall weight of the
NORMAQUICK PS3 quick connector by more than 40 percent.
NORMA Group has newly designed the PS3 quick connector because more and
more automobile manufacturers demand less weighty connectors that can be
assembled rapidly. The wall thickness of the connector's plastic housing
has been reduced by up to 50 percent compared with the original thickness.
As a result, the overall weight of the element has been reduced by more
than 40 percent. The structural dimensions of the new design have become
even more compact which makes the connector suitable for narrow spaces. The
quick connector's performance is maintained at the same high level of the
old design.

The NORMAQUICK PS3 quick connector is made from recyclable materials and is
characterized by a rapid assembly without tools. An integrated retainer
allows for mounting and dismounting the quick connector easily. Assembly in
fully automated processes is also possible. An incorporated O-ring keeps
the connection tight. The new plastic housing of the quick connector can be
used with a VDA standard spigot.
