Improved change management for IBM Rational Statemate models
PowerDiff 9.1 of Berner&Mattner
(PresseBox) - Berner & Mattner's new PowerDiff version 9.1 facilitates the development of complex systems with IBM Rational Statemate. PowerDiff is the only graphical diff tool for IBM Rational Statemate models and ensures model consistency as well as traceability of changes during the system's entire life cycle. The new version for Windows XP and Windows 7 provides users of the defence, aeronautics and automotive industries with an improved graphical user interface and additional extended functions. By simply pressing a key, clearly structured change reports can be generated as pdf documents. Bookmarks and additional links in the pdf reports are guiding the user directly to the change descriptions.
PowerDiff version 9.1 by Berner & Mattner offers a large number of new features for an improved and more efficient change management for IBM Rational Statemate models. PowerDiff 9.1 users benefit from a quicker analysis of IBM Rational Statemate model changes and can thus optimize their configuration management. The tool developed for Windows XP and Windows 7 platforms ensures better traceability of changes and provides seamless documentation and precise validation. All changes can easily be retraced via well-structured pdf reports with links.
Increased applicability of the graphical user interface (GUI)
A more intuitive usage has been achieved by integrating the external PowerDiffConvert settings dialog into the central PowerDiff GUI. A customisation menu has been added to import, export, save and reset customised default values (options, hierarchy) for new chart lists and the PowerDiffConvert settings. To support displaying options and hierarchies of different chart lists side by side the options dialog and the chart hierarchy editor have been integrated as tab pages into the chart list editor. The label of the options tab page as well as of the chart hierarchy tab page and the caption of the chart list editor dialog are marked by a "*" character to indicate that the contained data have been edited.
Improvement of the diff report's readability
To provide more context information for large elements within the diff report that span over more than one page (e.g. long descriptions, mini specs, truth tables, attributes etc.) users are given a specific heading for the following pages in which the element in question and the corresponding object are referenced to.
Enhanced algorithms
In order to free the user from configuring and managing IBM Rational Statemate work areas and projects for the charts conversion the PowerDiffConvert tool creates its own project and work area when chart versions are converted to a consistent version. Enhancement of the scaling algorithm in the charts graphics prevent objects from overlapping when the graphic is scaled up or down.
Extended analysis options
PowerDiff 9.1 offers a flexible selection of comparison criteria, such as "short description", "long description" or "attributes". A new compare option "structural description" is provided that inserts a list of all record and union fields that have been defined. In this list new or deleted fields are highlighted as they occur in the field order. A new graphical option "automatic zoom" is provided to enable automatic zooming in when the charts objects do not fill the entire surface of the graphic. In addition, differences in numerous object types (e.g. external activities) can be excluded from reporting.
