NIB has signed a loan agreement with Swedish Skanska and British Innisfree
totalling SEK 1,500 million (~EUR 150 million) for financing the construction of
the New Karolinska Solna Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.

The project is organised as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) and the New
Karolinska Hospital will be the first PPP hospital in the Nordic region and one
of the largest PPP hospitals in the world. The Swedish construction firm Skanska
and British investment fund Innisfree will set up a joint company for the
project.

"Taking part in financing one of the world's largest and most innovative
healthcare projects is at the heart of NIB's mission. Not only will Sweden be
able to offer world-leading healthcare, it will also be carried out in one of
the most environmentally advanced buildings in Scandinavia," says NIB's
President and CEO, Johnny Åkerholm.

NIB's loan is an important part of the hospital's financial structure, which
also includes the European Investment Bank and commercial banks. The total
financing for the project amounts to about SEK 9.4 billion.

Situated next to the Karolinska Institute, the new university hospital will
provide specialised healthcare in close collaboration with education and
research. The new hospital is planned to open in December 2015.

The Nordic Investment Bank is the common international financial institution of
the eight Nordic and Baltic countries. NIB provides long-term financing to the
energy, environmental, transport, logistics and communications, and innovation
sectors for projects that strengthen competitiveness and enhance the
environment. NIB has the highest possible credit rating, AAA/aaa, with the
leading rating agencies Standard & Poor's and Moody's.
